Red lentils soften into a simple tomato-based soup without requiring a complex stock. This is an original editorial recipe and has not been kitchen-tested by Power Grind Fitness. Timing, thickness and yield are approximate. Follow the lentil package's preparation instructions and check ingredient labels rather than assuming all versions behave identically.
Ingredients and preparation
For about four servings, use 1 cup dry red lentils (about 190 g), 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 small diced onion, 2diced carrots, one 14.5 oz(411 g)can diced tomatoes, 4cups vegetable broth (about 950 ml), 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin and 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Allow about 15minutes preparation and25–30minutes cooking. No oven is required.
Broth can contain celery, wheat, soy or other allergens depending on formulation and jurisdiction. Lentil allergy is also possible. Review every label and cross-contact requirement. No precise nutrition calculation, low-sodium certification or medical dietary suitability is claimed.
Build the soup gradually
Wash hands and rinse produce before cutting. Sort and rinse lentils according to package instructions. Warm oil in a large saucepan, add onion and carrots and cook gently for about 5minutes, stirring and avoiding scorching.
Add cumin, tomatoes, broth and lentils. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a controlled simmer and cook until the lentils and carrots are tender, stirring occasionally. Check earlier and continue as needed; the clock is only an estimate. Add a little water if the mixture becomes thicker than desired, then stir in lemon juice before serving.
Adjust the texture safely
The soup may thicken as it stands. Add liquid in small amounts so the flavor and consistency remain understandable. There is no need to blend it; avoiding an unnecessary hot-liquid transfer also simplifies the method. If using a blender, follow its instructions for hot contents rather than sealing a hot mixture in an unsuitable container.
Taste with a clean utensil and adjust seasonings modestly. Record changes if you want to repeat the result. The artwork does not establish that the stated yield or timing has been tested.
Cool portions promptly
Divide leftovers into shallow containers and refrigerate within two hours, or one hour above 90°F (32°C), at 40°F (4°C) or below. Use within three days as a conservative plan and reheat to165°F (74°C). Do not leave a large pot cooling on the counter for an extended period.
Key takeaway: a simple soup becomes easier to repeat when ingredients, doneness and storage are explicit. This editorial recipe still needs kitchen validation and should not be represented as independently tested or nutritionally certified.
